As I was going through my own healing journey, I had to stir myself back into the right direction, like I had lost myself throughout the years. Finding my way was not an easy task, but the first step was to inquire and question about myself. As you could have read in my free eBook, finding yourself is necessary. Because underneath your shell, you are unique, with your own talents and gifts. Who are you without everything you were told to be?
My goal became clear. I want to be as authentic as I could be. I want to just be me. I want to do everything in alignment with who I am.
The more I was moving forward on my healing journey, the more I knew about myself on a deeper level. And then suddenly, my values became an important part of my life. If I was facing something that wasn't in alignment with my values, it became easier to say no.
This way of living with integrity in all areas of my life was a game changer.
The best way to know me is to learn about my values.
I’ve always had strong work ethics, but it’s only after people mentioning it over the years that I really became aware of it. And I believe people with strong work ethics are working in integrity because they are aligned with their values in all their actions. And it would be difficult to dissuade them or convince them otherwise. Integrity could be described as embodying strong core values of responsibility, reliability, honesty and trustworthiness.
I also believe respect is important. Respecting others, respecting values, respecting beliefs, respecting oneself, as well as respecting other’s free will even when we don’t agree.
Quality and sustainability are also important, as I tend to always look at the big picture. In the self-help books, we learn about being in the present moment, but when I make decision, I always think about long-term. When it comes to the planet, I will also think about the impact on the future generation. Quality is usually a bigger initial investment, but in the long run, it’s usually always a better choice, which also has a better return on investment.
Also, I have traded the idea of being perfect with the idea of being in alignment. I believe that’s helped me to find my freedom.
When I was on a Thailand beach, on a full moon, I had the opportunity to make a wish. And I wished for happiness, because when you are truly happy, you can thrive in any areas of your life. It turns out, you don’t need someone to grant you 1 wish to choose happiness. Happiness is something that you should strive to reach, even if it’s a little bit every day. What brings you joy?
Find happiness daily, in the little things that brings you joy. For once you are more comfortable with embodying joy, it will just be a frequency that you can easily feel. The Marie Kondo craze taught us one thing, let go of anything that doesn’t bring you joy (unless it’s something that you do need to have on hand, like a toilet plunger for example). I know it’s easier said then done, but the idea is not to have it all nailed down in one day. The idea is to ask yourself everyday, does this bring me joy?
For me, finding the frequency of joy has sometimes been a challenge. And when everything fails, I turn to arts & crafts, where creativity is an essential ingredient. The idea is that creativity can be infused in pretty much anything. Sometimes creativity can bring joy in the most mundane task of doing dishes. It turns out that listening to a very interesting audiobook or podcast can shift the most dreaded chores into more agreeable moments, just like magic.
Fun is also something that I had to learn as an adult. Kids know how to have fun, but somehow tend to forget as they are caught in the wheel of life. Please also note here that fun doesn’t include self-destructing habits or behaviors. Because for some reason when some adults think of fun, there’s usually a lot of booze and hangovers involved. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had plenty of those nights, but that’s what we’ve been taught as “fun” for adults. And for healing purposes, we need to find fun as adults, which doesn’t include alcohol. The question I ask myself regularly now: how can I make it fun? The idea is to create more space to make things fun. And from there, it will be easier to carve more time for fun in your life.
Flexibility is something that can grow. We can be very flexible in certain areas, while rigid in others. I am firm on my values, but I tend to create space for more flexibility in my schedule. I also learned the hard way that when we aren’t flexible, we can easily break. Things can happen, and it’s not whether we anticipate them or not. It’s how we react or respond in those moments where things are going the way we planned. When we are flexible, it’s usually easier to adjust quickly and find ways to make things work.
Inclusivity and openness go well together. Inclusivity is about including everyone, no matter how they look like, where they come from, their sexual orientation, their gender or preferred pronouns, whether or not they have disabilities, because everyone belongs to the collective and deserves to feel valued, respected and heard. I believe there is room for everyone to shine. Openness is about making room for everyone or any ideas, even when we don’t initially relate, agree or share the same belief systems.
I believe it is quite transformational to view things, people and ideas, with an open mind and an open heart.
Health means being in a state of complete harmony; physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually financially and socially. Health can also be described as a return to wholeness.
Healing is like the journey back to wholeness. I see healing as a process, not a switch that you can turn on or off. Although I do believe in spontaneous healing, because I believe that anything is possible.
Experiencing wholeness is being in a complete state of unity with oneself, which includes self-awareness, self-knowledge, self-acceptance and self-compassion.
Experiencing oneness is connecting to all that is. You probably heard of the term “we are all one”, because energetically, we are all connected. You also probably also heard that whatever you do to others, it will come back to you. This is more a karma thing, but know that because of our interconnectedness, every single thing has an impact on others.
Helping someone in a holistic way is about looking at the person as a whole; not just the physical, but also the other bodies that we can’t see (emotional, mental, spiritual and energy body). Holistic doctors look at the body as a whole, not just where the issue is experienced, but also other organs, glands and systems that are impacted. Holistic could also be described as looking at the bigger picture. Someone might be experiencing a health issue, but it could be coming from an environmental component. Everything is connected.
And finally, I value growth. I speak here of personal growth, because otherwise, what are we doing in here? You grow as a person, but you also grow as a soul. I see life as a video game. Before we incarnate into our physical body, we choose the game we want to play (and yes, it’s not always the easiest one!). Every time we accomplish a level, we get rewards or gifts. These gifts are actually pre-determined like in a game (some games have mushrooms, some have swords or different tools, etc). If you are playing a racing game, I don’t believe you win a sword when you accomplish level 1. In our case, we have spiritual gifts that are already chosen before we incarnate, so that we pick up the tools that we have laid on our path, so that we can accomplish everything we have set for us in this lifetime. Every time that you accomplish a level, you can pick up your spiritual gift and start using it to move forward to higher levels. It’s fun isn’t it?
To summarize that last part, just like any good game, there’s a good challenge. If the game was too easy, it wouldn’t be fun and you wouldn’t play it.
Although I do comprehend all this, I’m still human and have my own challenges. From my perspective, all the levels have their own challenges, with their own rewards.
I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, and with the tools that I have picked up along the way, as well as with the wisdom I gained from all my experiences, I’m confident that I can help you, no matter which game your soul has chosen, and which level you are at.
This is what my soul has chosen.
